How it works

How your park's little book is made

Four steps, a single contact person on your side and a technical spec agreed before anything starts.

The commission

An edition of your own, not an adaptation

We do not take an existing book and change the name on it. We start from the park's own material — species sheets, mapping, public-use rules, whatever you have — and write a new script with the tern as the guide.

The result belongs to your park: your brand on the cover, contents reviewed by your team and an unlimited licence to reprint it whenever you want.

Meeting and material

Half an hour to learn what kind of visitor you get, which species you want to highlight and which message cannot be missing. You send us whatever material you already have.

Script and contents

We send you the contents list for the 24 pages and the full text. This is where your team corrects: names, rules and everything that cannot go wrong.

Illustration and layout

We illustrate the spreads and the map and send you the complete PDF for a final review. Nothing goes to press without your written approval.

Printing and delivery

Printed on FSC-certified paper and delivered to the park's storeroom. The files are kept ready for the next run.

FAQ

The character and the look of the collection are ours. The park gets an unlimited licence with no expiry over its own edition: you can reprint it, translate it into another language and use its pages on your website or your signage. Using the tern outside that book is agreed separately.

Yes. The park's logo goes on the front and back cover. Sponsors, public bodies or EU funds go on the credits page, which is where people expect to find them and where they do not spoil the reading.

Both work. In the shop it usually carries the kind of price a child can talk a parent into without an argument; as a gift, it is handed over at the visitor centre or with the family ticket. Some parks do both: sold in the shop and handed out during school activities.

One contact person, whatever material you already have and two reviews: the text and the final PDF. If the park has nothing documented we document it ourselves, but that adds about two weeks.

Yes, and it works out cheaper. A network of parks or a regional authority can commission one edition per site sharing the script, the format and the print run. It is the cheapest way to have a collection of your own.

Shall we start with the contents list?

After a half-hour call we come back with a proposed contents list for your park and a quote for the three print runs.
